As part of an ongoing research on the power of the single frame outside of its moving aspect (Anxious Pixels 2020, Last notes on touch 2021, A study in protection 2021), Joyce will be looking at documentary films that portray the artistic practice of Canadian contemporary artists while using the space as an exhibition medium to showcase glimpses of these works using single-frame projection. She is interested in looking at questions such as: what is the history of documentaries that portray the artistic practice of an artist? How can we look at moving image through a static force within an exhibition context? How does sound mediate movement and information?
